Up for some neighborhood Asian comfort food? Check out this Makati resto's refreshed menu

Sari Kitchen is welcoming diners to its refreshed restaurant concept, offering a selection of Filipino and Asian comfort food dishes in Makati.

Previously known as Thai Mookata, the restaurant has shifted from its hotpot and grill concept to a more casual Asian kitchen, with a menu that brings together familiar Filipino dishes and Asian favorites.

Audry Dionisio, one of the people behind Sari Kitchen alongside Ely Buendia and Pat Sarabia, explained that the change came after the team decided to simplify the restaurant's offerings.

“This used to be called Thai Mookata about a year and a half ago. We decided to change it because, I mean, as much as we all love hotpot and grill, it was really a very hard business to run, especially for the three of us who are musicians, getting into the food and beverage business is just a whole beast in itself. So we wanted to keep it simple, keep it fun. So we decided to change the theme of our restaurant—coming from Thai to now like an Asian comfort food type of cuisine,” Audry said.

Among the dishes on the refreshed menu are cheese sticks (P250), a familiar appetizer with a crispy exterior and generous cheese filling, and adobo rice, which starts at P200.

For those looking for Filipino comfort food, the restaurant also serves crispy pork belly sinigang sa bagoong starting at P299, along with tortang talong with minced pork for P265 and enseladang talong for P199.

Meanwhile, diners can also explore Asian-inspired selections such as kra pao (P400) and pad thai (P330). The menu also includes bokchoy with garlic and oyster sauce (P188), a vegetable side dish with savory flavors.

For dessert, mango sticky rice (P200) offers a familiar Thai combination of sweet mango, sticky rice, and coconut milk.

Beyond its food offerings, Sari Kitchen also has Sari Bar, where guests can enjoy drinks and live music later in the evening.

The restaurant aims to provide a welcoming space for people to gather over meals, drinks, and conversations.

“We’ve always wanted to create a space where people can come together over good food, good drinks, and good company. With Sari Kitchen, we're taking that idea a little further by refreshing our menu. And we’d like to call ourselves your neighborhood Asian kitchen,” Audry said.

Sari Kitchen is located at 5661 Washington Street corner Dela Rosa Street in Makati. It is open from Tuesday to Sunday, 6 p.m. to 3 a.m. —JCB, GMA News
