Organizers of the 76th Oktoberfest in Manila gave a taste of what's to come in the actual merrymaking celebration that will present German food and revelry next month.
During a press conference on Wednesday, various members from Oktoberfest organizers, the German Embassy and the German Club Manila treated guests to a mock-up of Oktoberfest Manila 2014.
According to German Embassy Chargé d'Affaires Michael Hasper, the Oktoberfest highlights the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Germany and the Philippines.
“The long tradition of this Oktoberfest proves the bond between our two countries and our people is even stronger and the roots are even deeper than diplomacy suggests,” Harper said.
He added that the Bavarian-style event provides the perfect setting to enjoy the Filipino-German evening together.
“It is more fun in the Philippines, as Filipinos love to party. You love sumptuous food and a good beer, music and dance. And this, ladies and gentlemen, is what we Germans love to do when we celebrate the Oktoberfest,” Harper said.

During the event, guests will be served with authentic German dishes such as various German sausages, grilled pork knuckles, and Laugen rolls to name a few.
Attendants will be wearing the Dirndl for ladies and Lederhosen for men, to add to the spirit of the German festival.
An internationally known Hofbräuhaus band straight from Munich will also serenade guests live with their German music. There will also be traditional Bavarian music.
Accompanying them to invigorate the crowd is Lissie, an internationally acclaimed performer who specializes in 'yodeling', a form of singing involving repeated changes of pitch during a single note.
During last year's Oktoberfest, over 4,500 participants joined the Filipino-German revelry in two successive nights, resulting in 31,200 liters of beer consumed.
