Foodies, you might want to make room for this new hybrid.

Meet the ramnut—a combination of ramen and, you guessed it, the doughnut.

Ramnut is a creation of Josh Scherer of Culinary Bro-Down, and the recipe is posted on his blog, though some parts of the entry may not be quite palatable to read.

"I want to do things that are unique, things that have never been done before, and whether they taste good or not is tertiary to the real goal of progress," Scherer said.

He also posted on Twitter a photo of the ramnut with Boston cream.

But as to whether the ramnuts taste good, he said: "They’re starchy, they’re crispy, they’re covered in frosting and stuffed with custard—that’s about all I can tell you. I enjoyed them in my mouth, I enjoyed them a lot, but as we just discussed, that information is pretty much useless. I urge you to make them yourself and figure it out."

A separate article on tech site Mashable said Scherer's cooking blog is known for creations such as the Flamin' Hot Cheetos burger and the spicy tuna corn dog.

Mashable quoted Scherer as saying the ramnut recipe occurred to him while he was brainstorming a fresh take on a ramen-based food hybrid.

"Other food bloggers and recipe developers have done ramen burgers, ramen pizza, ramen lasagna, ramen tacos, but no one had done anything sweet before, so I figured I might as well go for it," he told Mashable.

He added this made sense to him since "ramen itself has a totally neutral flavor, so it's going to take any shape and flavor profile you want it to."

"This isn't Scherer's first attempt to fry ramen; in August, he created a noodle-based fry for a ramen poutine recipe. He attributes the frying method to Keizo Shimamoto, best known for his famous ramen burger," Mashable added. — Joel Locsin/VC, GMA News
