Where to eat when...going out to brunch with the titas

Would you rather watch food and home improvement shows than tune in to the 24-hour music channel? Do you prefer early wine nights than partying all night? By any chance, do you have succulents, cheese knives, or wooden serving platters at home?

If you’ve answered “yes” to any of these questions, chances are, you are on your way to tita-hood — if you're not there already. Congratulations! You have reached that stage where you know what you want, don’t mind spending for it, and the best thing about it? You actually have enough money to spend for what you like, whether it’s good food, good ambiance with good company.

Here are some places where you can meet your fellow titas.

1. Café Mary Grace

What's a tita restaurant list without Café Mary Grace, the joint where ensaymada topped with grated quezo de bola and/or the gloriously delectable cheese rolls are the biggest come-on?

Maybe it brings a certain sense of nostalgia with every bite, but whatever the reason may be, Café Mary Grace has become the go-to place for meet-ups any time of day. Breakfast, lunch, merienda or dinner, the restaurant is packed with diners enjoying full meals and, of course, the baked goodies.

Many also bring balikbayan or foreign visitors here because it has the charm of a typical Filipino home with its intentionally mismatched chairs, interesting knick-knacks on display, plus the cute personalized notes you’ll find on tabletops. Various locations. Website

 2. Harlan + Holden Glasshouse

The latest talk of the town is this aptly named restaurant that has recently enhanced the landscape of Rockwell Center with lush foliage surrounding the establishment’s floor-to-ceiling glass walls. The interiors of Harlan + Holden Glasshouse have subdued colors and simple yet structural design, much like its retail brand namesake.

There’s more to rave about the aesthetics than the food, which is basically served in bowls, whether it be rice meals or pasta dishes.

Plus points for its healthy options like the poke bowl and salad selections, though the homemade corned beef bowl served with red rice and sunny side up egg is definitely a must-try. G/F Amorsolo Drive, Rockwell Center, Makati. +63917 1092156

Ladies who lunch would have their mouth watering at the sight of both savory and sweet treats like the squid ink rice, carbonara soufflé, or the Valrhona dark chocolate soufflé.

Dining here would make you feel like you’re eating at a romantic al fresco setting but with air-conditioning, as the mall-based restaurant is decorated with greenery, twinkling lights, and vibrant yellow furnishings.
