Homemade meals to share with others this holiday season
For Filipinos, Christmas wouldn't be complete without food. It doesn't matter how modest or grand the meal is—it’s the act of enjoying the meal together that makes the celebration special. This makes homemade goodness a meaningful gift because it can be shared with others. This year, try spreading the Christmas spirit through food to family, neighbors, and the less fortunate.
No matter what kind of gifts people give this Christmas, they all want the same result: to make people feel good. This is what inspired Eden Cheese, a staple in most Filipino households, to spread the joy of giving through their #GiveGoodnessWithEden campaign.
“Christmas is the time wherein everything is so festive,” Eden Cheese Assistant Brand Manager Rafael Baradas shares. “Filipinos go beyond what they’re supposed to do. They help everybody, they treat each other like family, and Eden as an iconic Filipino brand, wants to be part of that.”
To celebrate the act of giving, Eden Cheese invited foodies to the launch of the #GiveGoodnessWithEden campaign. Hosted by celebrity mom Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio, guests were treated to a day of goodness: gift baskets filled with Eden products, a buffet full of delicious dishes made special with Eden cheese, and an exciting cooking workshop headed by Chef JP Anglo. Here are the dishes you can make at home and share with your loved ones this holiday season:
Eden Cheesy Leche Flan
The star of the cooking workshop was the well-loved Filipino dessert Leche Flan. With Chef JP leading the way, guests enjoyed making their own plates with a touch of the cheesy goodness of Eden. To make it at home, just combine whisked egg yolks, evaporated milk, and condensed milk in a bowl. Strain the mixture then add grated Eden Cheese. Set it aside and prepare the caramel. In a pan, caramelize white sugar until light brown in color. Pour the caramel in a molder and let is set for a few minutes. Add the egg mixture and steam for 30 minutes. Garnish with salted egg and Eden cheese. Torch the cheese before serving.
Eden Cheesy Caldereta Tacos
Another big hit with the crowd was the Eden Cheesy Caldereta Tacos. This classic favorite was made creamier with Eden Meltsarap Cheese making its sweet and savory sauce more delicious. To cook this reinvented dish, just sear beef until light brown and set aside. In the same pan, sauté onion, garlic, bell peppers, and tomatoes. Add tomato paste and liver spread. When all ingredients are bright red in color, add beef stock and boil for one hour and 30 minutes to two hours or until meat is tender. Add sugar, salt, and pepper to taste. Mix in grated Eden Meltsarap Cheese and cook until cheese is melted. Serve in soft tacos with pimiento sauce.
