A bigger and brighter Alba Restaurante just opened in Pasig

Since 1952, Alba Restaurante Español has been the go-to restaurant for those who are looking for a hearty Spanish meal shared with the entire family.

Back in the day, Alba was frequented by high-end clientele and celebrities. News spread that even Spain’s Prince Juan Carlos and wife Sofia dined at Alba when they visited the Philippines.

From the humble 5-table eatery on Isaac Peral Street in Manila (now U.N. Avenue), Alba now has five full-service restaurants. Today, the biggest and the newest store just opened at Estancia Mall in Pasig City.

The new 170-seater store is warm and inviting — as if it’s been there for ages. On one wall of the restaurant is Don Anastacio de Alba’s quote, “Todo lo que yo deseo desde el momento que llegan que le sirvan con esmero” (All that I desire from the moment you arrive is to serve you with care), which has been adapted as the restaurant’s philosophy.

“This branch is envisioned to be a bigger and more celebration-centric venue for families and friends in the nearby residences and corporate offices within the Capitol Commons township,” explained Chef Miguel de Alba, the son of Don Alba and now the president of Alba International Incorporated and general manager of Alba Restaurante Español.

He adds, “Continuing the work of my father and staying true to his legacy is a tough task to follow. So all compliments and good reviews given to us only mean one thing… that we have been doing it right through the years.”

Upon entry, you’ll be greeted by the tapas bar (perfect for after work drinks over wine and 55 different tapas to choose from) and deli bar (for those who want to bring home some of Alba’s chorizo, cold cuts, and the newly-introduced chorizo burger patties. A quaint dessert and coffee bar is also present for those who want to enjoy Alba’s famous Canonigo and Tarta de Santa Teresa with freshly brewed coffee.

Dinner buffet is available at the new Estancia Mall branch, as well as Tomas Morato and Prism. They’re even thinking of expanding to more locations like Marikina, Antipolo, and Nuvali in Santa Rosa, Laguna.

“Competition keeps us on our toes but we have always been clear about the direction of Alba. We serve traditional Spanish comfort food. This is what we do best,” Chef Miguel shared. “We just want our guests to leave the restaurant happy. Everything is customer-centered; there is no other way.”
