With so many cafes these days trying to come up with gimmicks to attract customers, it's nice to visit spots that take you back to simpler times, when it didn't take much to get some quiet time with good food and a cup of joe.

Here are some that are worth a visit:

1. Grand Cafe 1919 (Binondo, Manila)

If you're looking for old, why not go all the way back to the early 1900's?

People who dine in Grand Cafe 1919 will be eating in a resurrected bank building that was erected almost a hundred years ago. The cafe renovated the building, but kept its elegant fixtures from the flapper era.

To the 80's kids out there, there's this diner-like place in Alabang that has working arcade machines and classic board games.

3. Tampuhan Cafe (Taal, Batangas)

For those who'd like to relax in something a little more homey, head South to Taal, Batangas and find Tampuhan Cafe.

It's located in a traditional Filipino house that doubles as an air B n' B. It's like visiting grandma's house.

The best part? These cafes are totally Instagrammable, too!
