Fil-Am chefs to go on a food tour, attend cooking talks and demos in Western Visayas

Filipino-American chefs Tom Cunanan of the DC restaurant Bad Saints and Lanai Tabura, who won the Great Food Truck Race, are set to go on a food tour in Iloilo and Bacolod for the Visayas leg of the Department of Tourism (DOT's) Chefs' Food Trip Project, according to a DOT media release.

The project aims to strengthen culinary tourism in the country by inviting Fil-Am chefs to a two-week tour around the country's popular culinary destinations.

Together with Charles Olalia of the Los Angeles-based Ma'am Sir restaurant, Cunanan and Tabura will be visiting the Jaro Huebesan market in Iloilo, go on a food crawl to taste Illongo specialties such as the darag native chicken and batchoy, and visit a farm-to-table restaurant.

They are also scheduled to tour Bacolod's iconic tourist sites such as the Ruins of Talisay and Balay Negrense with Pinay Chef Margarita "Gaita" Fores.

Since Sunday, Cunanan and Tabura have visited several culinary destinations in the country including Quezon City and Pampanga.

On Saturday, Cunanan and Tabura will participate in a series of culinary talks and cooking demonstrations from 1pm to 5pm at the DOT x WOFEX University Fun Food Talks in Negros Residences, Bacolod City.
