Another way to avoid nCoV infection? Boost your immune system, doctor says

Aside from washing one's hands frequently, keeping hydrated and avoiding crowded places, there is another way to prevent oneself from getting infected with the novel coronavirus (nCoV).

In a Pinoy MD episode, wellness expert Dr. Rolando Balburias said that boosting one's immune system can help in increasing resistance against the nCoV.

One way to do this is to consume fruits and vegetables that are rich in antioxidants. And what better way to do that, than to blend them into a smoothie that's ready-to-drink?

This immune-booster smoothie is made of four ingredients: Oranges, apples, carrots and honey. Just slice the fruits and veggies, add honey and blend them together.

There are also other types of food with micronutrients and macronutrients that can help boost one's immune system.

"Maraming known na micronutrients na tlagang nagbu-boost ng lakas at sigla ng ating resistensya. To name a few, of course, Vitamin C. Minerals like zinc and magnesium. Vitamin D. Second, macronutrients like fatty acids," said Balburias.

Aside from eating fruits and vegetables, experts advised the public to take about 500 grams of Vitamin C, stay hydrated, wash their hands properly, and wear face masks the right way.
