Who knew sweet potato or kamote can be your very own secret ingredient to making a healthy merienda paired with a healthy beverage?

To get a taste of a homemade healthy snack, Maey Bautista showed viewers a step-by-step guide in how to make the kamote with assorted toppings and kamote juice during the live online cooking show "ECQusina" on Friday.

Maey shared that for her kamote juice recipe, all you'll be needing are kamote tops, or more locally known as talbots ng kamote, plus calamansi juice and honey.

According to the comedian, talbos ng kamote is very good for those with diabetes since it helps maintain your glucose level while calamansi contains a lot of vitamin C to boost your immune system.

Simply boil the kamote tops until the water becomes bluish purple. Put the kamote juice in a pitcher and add calamansi. Watch as the juice turns from purple to a red-pink shade.

For a finishing touch, just add honey.

Meanwhile for the roasted kamote recipe, all you'll need are thinly sliced sweet potato, sliced banana, coconut oil, peanut butter, almond and cashew.

First, place coconut oil on the sliced kamote and cook it in the oven toaster for five minutes. Afterwards, you can already put the toppings of your liking. You can put the peanut butter first, followed by the banana, nuts and topped off with honey.

In just a few minutes you can have yourself a healthy snack and a healthy beverage!

"ECQusina" is an online show hosted by Kara David that goes live on Facebook every week where she teaches viewers how to make tasty dishes just with daily grocery items.
