Pepe Smith's daughter Queenie shares her recipe for tuna afritada
Sick of chicken afritada? Why not try tuna afritada?
During an episode of "ECQusina" on Friday, rock icon Pepe Smith's daughter Queenie shared an easy step-by-step guide in making her tuna afritada.
According to Queenie, who is currently living in Myanmar and working as a teacher there, all you'll be needing are canned tuna, bell peppers, garlic, tomato, onion, olive oil, soy sauce, and tomato paste.
First, she said, mince your garlic and onion. Afterwards, chop your tomatoes and your green, yellow, and red bell peppers into thin slices.
You can use the oil from your canned tuna or you can use olive oil for a healthier output, she said.
After the oil has been put in a large pan, sautee your garlic, onion, and tomato together. Next, add your tuna and a few tablespoons of water. Let it boil for a while.
After letting it boil, you can add tomato paste, a few drops of soy sauce, and two pinches of salt.
Since Queenie loves spicy food, she said that she adds chili garlic sauce to her mix.
"Naalala ko pa nung buhay si Papa, mahilig sya sa bualo. 'Yun 'yung niluluto ko sa kanya," Queenie shared.
She added, "At syempre paborito niya kaming mga anak niya."
Lastly, add the bell peppers. Mix it all together and you now have yourself tuna afritada! You can eat it either as a spread on bread or as a dish with rice.
"ECQusina" is an online show hosted by Kara David that goes live on Facebook every week where she teaches viewers how to make tasty dishes just with daily grocery items.
