American architect, Pinay fiancee open Mexican food cart in Tondo
A Mexican food cart in Tondo, Manila has been a huge hit among foodies for its authentic-tasting taco, burrito, and quesadilla.
According to Mariz Umali's report on "24 Oras," the business is run by American architect Paul Bradford Neal and his Filipina fiancee Mary Grace Goce.
They started with a capital of P8,000 in June and used to earn P1,500 a day, but their income has since grown to P15,000 with daily burrito sales reaching 350 orders.
"Good food makes people happy. And if you have good food they never forget you. It's masarap," Paul said.
They will soon open a stall to better serve their growing customer base. And it's all thanks to Paul's generosity with the ingredients, Mary Grace said.
"Gusto niya na 'yung quality na tinatawag na mura lang siya, na makaya ng mga tao, pero masarap," she said.
The couple met online and when Paul traveled to the Philippines, he instantly fell in love not just with her but also her country.
"I understand the culture. Family above all things, that's something you don't see back where I live anymore," he said. "They're some the most generous people I've seen. I love the climate, too."
Paul said he is planning to apply for dual citizenship after they get married so he could become a permanent resident of the Philippines and stay here for good.
"Hindi siya napapagod magsabi ng I love you. I will marry you, I want you for the rest of my life," Mary Grace said about her fiance.
He also called their relationship a "big blessing" and said there's "never a dull moment" between them.
"I don't wanna go anywhere else. I can't imagine being with anybody else," he said. —MGP, GMA News
