New Kapuso cooking show 'Farm To Table' aims to encourage viewers to grow their own vegetables

Filipino chef JR Royol will host the newest Kapuso cooking show that will take us all over the country to gather local ingredients straight from the farm.

According to Aubrey Carampel's report on "24 Oras," GMA News TV will bring "Farm To Table" to our television screens very soon.

"Samahan n'yo po kami na maglakbay, magtanim, mag-harvest at magluto ng mga putahe gamit ang mga ingredients na nakikita natin and sino-source natin locally," Chef JR said.

Aside from teaching the viewers how to prepare meals, the show also aims to encourage people to plant their own fruits and vegetables in their backyards.

"Nakita na natin sa mga sitwasyon natin ngayon ang importansya ng pagkakaroon ng access sa masustansya, fresh," JR said. "'Yung mga ganung factors lang is sobrang critical sa kalusugan natin."

The Department of Agriculture has been pushing for urban gardening as well to ensure food sustainability amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Some people have taken the advice to heart, with a community turning a dumpsite into a vegetable farm and a retired teacher starting a garden on his roof.
