Isaw, betamax, adidas, and tenga ng baboy have made their way to New York City!
In Athena Imperial's report on "24 Oras," Sunday, stall owner Robin John Calalo, also called "Boy Isaw," said he started his business after craving for the Filipino favorites.
"I decided to buy from market with $50 then I cooked. I prepared a lot then I sold it. The first one who bought from me are friends and family," he said in a mix of English and Filipino.
According to Robin, he didn't expect his business to boom and even attract foreign customers. He started in 2019 and has since made waves especially when the COVID-19 pandemic started.
From $50 or P2,500 capital, Robin now earns P200,000 a week.
This isn't the first time Filipino food became a star in The Big Apple. In June, dirty ice cream or sorbetes was sold in celebration of Philippines' Independence Day.
