Clark Mariott opens 1st Wu Xing restaurant in the Philippines in time for Chinese New Year

A new traditional Chinese restaurant has arrived in Clark, Pampanga — just in time for Chinese New Year.

The Clark Marriott hotel officially opened Wu Xing this month, promising a luxurious place to enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine in Central Luzon, including imperial-era traditional style Peking Duck.

The restaurant is headed by Chef Raymond Yeung, who has 30 years of experience in Chinese cuisine with Cantonese as his specialty.

To come up with Wu Xing’s signature menu, the award-winning, new-generation chef said he traveled across China to draw from the best regional styles.

“We tried the different and popular dishes of Beijing, Shanghai, Sichuan and Hong Kong, and got the best of them in developing the menu for Wu Xing,” he said.

Apart from Peking Duck, guests can enjoy other expertly prepared dishes such as Crispy Soft Tofu with Hoisin Sauce, Premium Jelly Fish with Treasure Oil,  Ox Tongue and Tripe with Sichuan Oil, Sliced Pork Belly with Chili Oil and Garlic, Clay Pot Braised Spicy Duck with Beer Sauce, Lotus Leaf Wrapped Glutinous Rice with Duck Meat, and more.

Wu Xing, which puts the traditional five elements of Chinese philosophy (water, wood, fire, earth, metal) in order, had once been used to explain how the universe moves.

Wu Xing, located at the ground floor of Clark Marriott, Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga, officially opened January 7, 2022. The hotel chain plans to open more Wu Xing locations in the Philippines. — LA, GMA News
