Pinoy dishes Lumpiang Shanghai and Tortang Talong are the best-rated Southeast Asian food by TasteAtlas.

On Facebook, Monday, Taste Atlas announced their best-rated Southeast Asian food. Filipino staples Lumpiang Shanghai and Tortang Talong took over the top spots with a 4.8 rating out of 5 stars.

The two Pinoy dishes are followed by an Indonesian food called Bubur Ayam with a 4.7 rating.

On their website, TasteAtlas described Lumpiang Shanghai as "the most popular variety of lumpia, the crispy deep-fried Filipino snack that evolved from Chinese spring rolls."

TasteAtlas also noted that Lumpiang Shanghai is "usually sold at numerous street stalls throughout the country, but it is also a staple dish served on special and festive occasions."

Meanwhile, the food review website described Tortang Talong as a "a simple Filipino dish made with a combination of roasted eggplants and lightly beaten eggs."

"This versatile delicacy is easily adapted with additional ingredients such as ground meat and vegetables, and it is traditionally served accompanied by steamed rice and tomato or banana ketchup," they added.

TasteAtlas also characterized the Filipino delicacy as "inexpensive and quickly prepared" which can be "enjoyed at any time of day as a hearty breakfast, lunch, or dinner."

Furthermore, TasteAtlas rated Pho (4.3), Pad Thai, (4.2), and Satay (4.2) as Great, Nasi Lemak (3.9), Chili Carb (3.9), and Banh Xeo (3.8) as OK.

While Filipino dishes have been hitting the top list, Pinoy exotic food Balut was rated Worst with 2.7 rating along with Indonesia’s Acar (3.2), and Cambodia’s Steamed Curried Fish (3.3).

In the latter part of the post, TasteAtlas noted that the rating is based on TasteAtlas' audience.

Last August, Filipino dish Sinigang was also hailed the #1 best rated vegetable soup in the world by TasteAtlas with a rating of 4.8 out of 5 stars. —JAB, GMA News.
