Crosta, Wildflour, A Mano among APAC’s best pizzerias, says 50 Top Pizza Awards

We could all agree that a slice of pizza could make any day brighter—thin or thick crust, with classic or experimental toppings, or in a square or triangle cut, a bite of this gooey comfort food always hits the spot.

According to 50 Top Pizza, an award-giving body of 50 Italy Group, Manila is home to some of the best pizzerias in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.

On Monday, the 50 Top Pizza Awards held at The Peninsula Bangkok its recognition ceremony, where three Philippine pizzerias were included in the prestigious list.

According to the 50 Top Pizza group, the pizzerias that made the cut were assessed "as a whole."

"The guide does not have ideological principles, it is inspired by the concept of excellence in the broad sense, but favors those who use products from the local territory or seasonal ingredients," said the group on its website.

Here are the awardees from the Philippines:

Crosta Pizzeria, located in Makati, ranked 32 and is the first Philippine restaurant on the list. So if you are looking for the perfect "roni cups" in Manila, Crosta is one of the few—if not the only—pizzeria in the country that strongly nails the pepperoni game.

Owned by married couple Ingga Cabangon-Chua and Thomas Wudwyk, Crosta is famous for its signature sourdough crust and varieties for those with vegetarian and vegan dietary restrictions.

Next on the list is Wild Flour Italian, which came in at the 38th spot. This Italian-centered restaurant is under the Wildflour group led by president and CEO Ana Lorenzana de Ocampo and founding partners Walter and Margarita Manzke. The restaurant is famous for its wood-fired brick oven pizza, similar to Italy's.

Last but definitely one to watch is A Mano, which placed at 48. Owned by Amado Fores, the son of 2016 Asia's Best Female Chef Margarita Fores, A Mano is known for its traditional-leaning pizza cooked on its iconic red Valoriani oven. This restaurant located at Power Plant Mall also received the One To Watch 2022 Solania Award for using traditional Italian methods for its pizza. – RC, GMA News
