Where to get mooncake for Mid-Autumn Festival 2022


The Mid-Autumn Festival is fast approaching, and whether or not you're a Chinoy or a full-blood Chinese, munching on some mooncake during this festival is always a great idea, especially when shared with family and friends.

In ancient times, it is said that the moon on the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival shines the brightest and the fullest. In modern times, wishes of luck in life and business are shared among loved ones and colleagues during this festival.

If you're looking for shops where to buy the best and most aesthetic mooncake there is in Metro Manila, look no further than these five stores.

1. Marco Polo Ortigas Manila's Lung Hin

Inspired by the season's deep beliefs and rich traditions, this year's featured mooncake flavors at Marco Polo Ortigas Manila's Lung Hin are Red Bean with Double Egg Yolks, Red Lotus Seed with Double Egg Yolks, White Lotus Seed with Double Egg Yolks, and Black Sesame with Double Egg Yolks.

You may opt to order individual boxes at P918, boxes of four mooncakes at P3,258, or boxes of six mooncakes at P4,388.

Sofitel Manila highlights this year's Mid-Autumn Festival with rich and dense mooncakes available in unique and premium flavors—Black sesame and Matcha, Truffle mixed nuts, and White lotus with double egg yolk.

These decadent luxury mooncakes are packed in specially curated boxes that feature the Chinese auspicious culture experience and the refined French art de Vivre. The rate is set at P2,888 per box for Special flavors and P3,588 per box for Premium flavors.

3. New World Makati's Jasmine

Jasmine at New World Makati Hotel celebrates the auspicious occasion with a delectable assortment of mooncakes which comes in four flavors—Red Bean with Double Yolk, Red Lotus with Double Yolk, White Lotus with Double Yolk, and Five Kernel—encased in gold, yellow, and brown packaging with an embossed gold stamping. These come in a box of two at P1,488 and a pack of four at P2,488 net.

4. Grand Hyatt Manila's No. 8 China House

Grand Hyatt Manila welcomes the season with a luxury mooncake collection in five delicious flavors: white lotus and red bean, along with contemporary confections such as black sesame, ube, and white lotus with salted egg yolk.

These sweet and savory round-shaped creations are presented in an elegantly designed gift box for P388 for a single mooncake and the pack of four at P2,388 net.

5. Chef Nathaniel Uy of The Hungry Chef

If you don't want to go through the hassle of picking up mooncake in person, Chef Nathaniel Uy of The Hungry Chef sells his most talked about mooncake creations directly through Instagram. There are three flavors available, including Black Bean (P185 - P195), Ube Mooncake (P210), and Empress Mooncake with XO sauce (P230).

6. Shangri-La The Fort's Canton Road

Shangri-La The Fort's excellent Canton Road has sweet and savory mooncake flavors for this year's Mid-Autumn Festival. There's Pineapple and Walnut, Mixed Nut, White Lotus and Salted Egg Yolk, Red Bean and Pine Nuts, Chestnut with Salted Egg, or Jasmine Tea and Pistachio. All are available in mini (75g) at P488 or regular size (150g) at 688.

Custom Shangri-La mooncake treasure boxes (P3,288) are also available for you to mix and match your desired flavors.

The mooncakes are available until September 10.

7. Marriott Hotel Manila's Man Ho

For this year's mid-autumn festival, Marriot Hotel Manila's Man Ho presents The Golden Mooncake Chest, an elegant gold box that houses hand-crafted mooncakes and Man Ho's tea selection.

The mooncakes are available in three flavors: Red Lotus Paste with Yolk, White Lotus Paste with Yolk, and Red Lotu Paste with Dark Chocolate.

The Golden Chest starts with a selection of two mooncakes and a can of tea for P1988. They're also available per piece, or in boxes of four and six.

8. Hong Kong MX Lava Custard

 

Oh, how we love Hong Kong MX's delicious, luxurious Lava Custard mooncake. Double-baked, this mooncake features a crisp outside and a creamy golden custard middle for a sensational bite.

It's available as a duet (P2,200) or as an 8-piece delight (P2,700) or you can have it mixed with our Hong Kong MX Lava mooncakes like the Lava Quartet which has Lava Chocolate, Lava Cheese, Lava Macchiato, and Lava Custard in 2 pieces each (P2,800).
