Ninong Ry cooks for detainees at San Juan City Jail Male Dormitory
Ninong Ry made a delicious meal for detainees at the San Juan City Jail Male Dormitory.
In a YouTube video, the popular food vlogger detailed how they went about it, from preparing ingredients to keeping them fresh and packing them for transport.
It took them hours of preparation to serve beef caldereta, roasted chicken, and vegetables to over 300 detainees. They also gave out hygiene kits.
According to Ninong Ry, he was invited by Karen Bordador, who said this initiative was to celebrate the National Correctional Consciousness Week.
“Marami talagang hindi pa nakakakain ng masasarap na pagkain sa loob ng mga selda nila,” she said. “Today, I hope Ninong Ry can make them super happy by feeding them quality food - chef’s level.”
Ninong Ry said the task was pretty hard. Nevertheless, he is thankful he got to do this with the detainees who helped him and his team.
“Personally, yung experience na makapag luto sa ganitong lugar, iba ‘yon. Hindi araw-araw makukuha yung gano’ng pagkakataon plus I can share this to my inaanaks,” he said.
“Muntik na akong maiyak kanina. Alam naman nila na mababaw luha ko pero ayoko lang magtuloy.”
