Fried chicken is 2022's most-ordered food for delivery in the Philippines — Grab

Fried chicken is the Philippines' most-ordered food in 2022, taking over the top spot from burgers in 2021, according to Grab's "PH Food & Grocery Trends 2022."

The study, with data collected from January to September 2022, revealed that almost 55,000 orders of fried chicken are being made every day in the Philippines this year.

Aside from fried chicken, Grab also saw an increase in demand for coffee, which sits at the fifth spot, burger steak at the sixth spot, nuggets at the ninth, and halo-halo at the 10th.

Burgers are still second most-ordered food in 2022, followed by pasta (third), ice cream (fourth), fries (seventh), and pie (eighth).

Halo-halo was a surprise addition to most-ordered food this year, with 80% more orders than in 2021.

In terms of the most-searched cuisines on Grab in the Philippines, Korean food reigned supreme, followed by Japanese, Chinese, Thai, and Indian.

Filipinos clearly love fried chicken, and we have the Filipino fast-food chain Jollibee to thank for that, as the "Chickenjoy" has become one of the most celebrated comfort foods in the country, and apparently, America agrees too.

In August, Jollibee's "Chickenjoy" was hailed as the "Best Fried Chicken in America" by a global food website, Eater.com.
