Sanchez Mira, Cagayan residents celebrate town's 131 years with ‘Kamayan sa Daan’
Residents of Sanchez Mira in Cagayan came together on the streets of their town to celebrate its 131st founding anniversary.
According to Kuya Kim’s report on “24 Oras” Thursday, the grand gathering featured their unique take on the traditional Filipino boodle fight, aptly named “Kamayan sa Daan.”
“Everyone is invited. Kahit turista, puwede. It's a very Filipino thing, ‘di ba? ‘Yung mag-fi-fiesta ka, tapos tatanggap ka ng mga bisita,” Sanchez Mira LGU Tourism and Information Officer Karla Ocampo said.
A long table was filled with mouth-watering selections including lechon, igado, pancit, vegetables, and Sanchez Mira’s longganisa.
The feast, which marks the second boodle fight hosted in Sanchez Mira, was a communal effort, with contributions coming from the local government unit and various barangays.
“Definitely, ‘yung fellowship ang habol namin. Gusto lang namin magsama-sama ‘yung buong Sanchez Mira,” Ocampo said.
