Michelin Guide lists PH among 'most exciting foodie destinations' in 2026

The Michelin Guide has included the Philippines on its list of the “most exciting foodie destinations” for 2026, along with 15 other countries.

According to the prestigious food guide, 2026 is the best time to go on a gastronomic adventure in the country, as “Filipino food claims its global moment in Manila and Cebu.”

The Michelin Guide also acknowledged the rising number of young Filipino chefs “with independent styles” who are pushing the envelope in food culture, which is “steeped in balancing traditional and international techniques.”

Among the Filipino dishes recommended by the guide are sisig, sinigang, inasal, and adobo.

“These dishes showcase a balance of sweet, salty, and acidic flavors through the skilled use of regional fruits, spices, and cooking techniques like marinating and grilling,” the Michelin Guide wrote.

“Our Inspectors also noted that there’s an abundance of fresh produce year-round, thanks to the great weather, which is the real cornerstone of Filipino cuisine,” it said.

Aside from the Philippines, other Asian destinations that made the list include Cappadocia in Türkiye and Jiangsu Province in China.

The Michelin Guide arrived in the Philippines in October 2025 and unveiled its inaugural list of recommendations in the country.

Overall, it recognized 108 establishments in the Philippines for its inaugural 2026 list: 74 Michelin Selected, 25 Bib Gourmand, eight with One Michelin Star, and one with Two Michelin Stars.
