Serg's Chocolates announces comeback this year

Serg's Chocolates has announced its intention to return to the market this year.

On Facebook Monday, the classic Filipino chocolate bar shared the challenges it's been facing in their plans to return to the market, including COVID-19, the 2024 Carina floods that hit their warehouse and delayed their "small-batch setup," and other "uncertainties that forced us to rethink the plan."

"But 2026 will be our restart year," they said.

According to Serg's, they plan to start small "back where it all began in 1954 on Cordillera Street, Quezon City."

"If everything goes well, we are hoping Serg's in 2026 (Q3)," they continued, as they asked the public to like and share their social media pages.

Founded in 1954 by Antonio Goquilay, Serg's Chocolates was named after Goquilay's son, Sergio, who eventually led the company.

In the 80s and the 90s, the brand hit higher levels of popularity, thanks to its commercial jingle, and the tagline, "Serg's ikaw pa rin."

The company closed in 2001, the same year Sergio suffered a heart attack and died.

In 2020, Sergio's son-in-law, Randy Ong, told GMA News they had plans to return.

“Serg’s will come back. I don't know what time, maybe after the pandemic when the time we’ll be able to travel there. I will always bring back, Serg’s will bring back their memories through the Serg’s chocolate products. And I will make sure of that one,” he said.

“In terms of the progress, I’m happy with it. I have the building, the infrastructure where it’s started 1955, where the ancestral home is. I renovated it to be able to accommodate a small manufacturing para lang magkaroon tayo ng Serg’s chocolate,” he added.
