Yardstick ranks 34th among World's 100 Best Coffee Shops 2026 list
Yardstick Coffee is the only Philippine coffee shop to be included on the World's 100 Best Coffee Shops 2026 list.
The coffee shop, which has multiple branches in Metro Manila, ranked 34th on this year's list, down from its 18th spot in 2025.
Onyx Coffee LAB (United States) topped the 2026 list, followed by Tim Wendelboe (Norway), Alquimia Coffee (El Salvador), Only Coffee Project Crows Nest (Australia), and Toby's Estate Coffee Roasters (Australia).
In 2025, three other cafes in the Philippines made it to the list with Yardstick, including El Union Coffee in La Union (61st), Single Origin (83rd), and Crema and Cream Coffee Roasters (86th).
According to organizers, a "comprehensive set of criteria" is used to evaluate the coffee shops: quality of coffee, barista expertise, customer service, innovation, ambience and atmosphere, sustainability practices, food and pastry quality, and consistency.
The voting system for the World's 100 Best Coffee Shops list includes public voting by coffee enthusiasts from the world over, as well as a panel of specialty coffee experts and industry professionals to assess the cafes. Public votes make up 30% of the final score, while evaluation by the expert panel comprises the remaining 70%.
During the nomination process, both the public and the expert panel can nominate coffee shops. A shortlist is created after the nomination period, and coffee shops with the highest total scores are included on the final ranked list.
