Hotpot for one: Sichuan's Malatang concept opens in QC
The rainy season is upon us, and what better way to warm up than with a comforting bowl of soup?
From Filipino favorites like sopas, goto, and batchoy to international staples such as ramen and pho, there's no shortage of hearty soup dishes to satisfy rainy-day cravings in the Philippines.
Hotpot, which originated in China, is another rising favorite among Filipinos. It is traditionally enjoyed family-style with large servings perfect for groups, and often an unlimited dining setup.
So what do you do when your hotpot craving hits at a random hour and don't have anyone to share it with? That's where Sichu Malatang comes in.
To mark its seventh year in the Philippines, Sichu Malatang has opened its 11th and newest branch at SM North EDSA with the introduction of new dishes.
Inspired by malatang, a type of street food that originated in Sichuan, China, Sichu Malatang's SM North EDSA location continues to pride itself with its flexible serving sizes, ranging from 300 grams for solo diners to 1 kilogram for groups of four to five.
Each customized hotpot bowl costs P1.20 per gram, with a wide selection of ingredients, including pork, beef, seafood, hotpot balls, vegetables, and noodles.
Hotpot lovers can enjoy four signature styles: Malatang (hotpot), Malaxiangguo (dry pot), Malapan (mix pot), and the newly introduced Malaxiangguo Light, a less greasy, vegan- and vegetarian-friendly take on the bold, spicy flavors of the dry pot experience.
The 45-seater new branch also debuted Lao Gan Ma Fried Rice and an expanded gelato lineup featuring Vanilla, Matcha, Mango, and Hojicha, all priced at P95.
