Batangas goes viral for offering free rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty for qualified residents

The provincial government of Batangas recently launched free rhinoplasty and blepharoplasty services for qualified residents and immediately went viral for it.

On Facebook, the Batangas Provincial Information Office (PIO) announced it conducted a screening on September 17, followed by actual surgeries the next day at Batangas Provincial Hospital.

The initiative was “an important step toward expanding specialized healthcare services” in the province, Batangas IPO said.

“Patients who were qualified and in need of these surgical procedures were identified,” the statement read in Filipino.

“The procedures were performed under the supervision of healthcare professionals, in partnership with the Philippine Academy of Aesthetic Surgery,” it added.

According to the provincial government, the services may address certain medical or functional concerns, rather than being solely for aesthetic purposes.

“Making these services available in a public hospital is part of the efforts of the provincial government of Batangas and its partners to expand Batangueños' access to necessary surgical care,” Batangas PIO said.

The post, which has been shared nearly 150 times as of writing, has generated interest among netizens. "Bakit ngayon lang nagpakita saken post na to," someone asked, laughing.

"Pwede po ba tiga Bulacan? Haha seryoso po," asked another.

"Saan po pede manpa lista," an interested netizen piped in, while several others asked if "abot pa ba?"

Rhinoplasty, commonly known as a nose job, is a surgical procedure that can be performed for both cosmetic and functional reasons.

Aside from altering the appearance of the nose, the procedure can also address certain functional concerns, including breathing problems and structural issues.

Meanwhile, blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is a procedure that removes excess skin from the eyelids. According to the Mayo Clinic, it may be performed to address functional problems, including impaired peripheral vision. — Hermes Joy Tunac/LA, GMA News
