A one-year-old boy, Jay (not his real name), who was born with a lump on his head and missing toes and fingers, received help from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

In a "24 Oras" report Friday, Jay's mother Analiza Pajanustan shared that the lump on his head would hurt when it is touched.

"Every night, he cries and cries. It hurts when touched, especially when he bumps into something, and it gets hot and hard," she said in Filipino.

Aside from the lump on his head, Jay was also born with missing fingers and toes.

Per Pajanustan, she did not get to take vitamins when she was pregnant with Kay.

Dr. Hector Santos, a plastic surgeon, explained that pregnant women on their first trimester must take vitamins so the fetus would develop properly.

Pajanustan has since sought help from the GMA Kapuso Foundation, as her husband's P600 daily earnings as a construction worker are not enough to have Jay examined by a medical specialist.

According to Santos, Jay has a condition called frontal nasal meningocele.

"The skull should close to encompass the brain, but there was a problem during development in the womb. Amniotic fibers also became attached to the fingers, which prevent them from developing," he said in Filipino and English.

"We need to find a way to open, repair, and remove that portion. This is a multispecialty procedure involving a plastic surgeon, a neurosurgeon, a pediatric intensivist, and a pediatric anesthesiologist."

For those who wish to support Jay in his treatment, donations may be made via Metrobank, Land Bank, BDO, Bank of Commerce, UnionBank, PNB, Cebuana Lhuillier, GCash, Lazada, Shopee, and Palawan Pay. Visit the GMA Kapuso Foundation website for more information.
