The coming of the New Year encourages new beginnings, and one of the common resolutions at every start of the year is to maintain a healthier lifestyle.
One way to implement that is exercise. Exercise not only paves the way for a better physical appearance, it is also known to fight obesity when paired with proper diet.
Various studies also show that being physically active can also protect the brain against depression, increase the chances of surviving prostate cancer, and reduce mortality from breast cancer.
Here are some exercise tips from Unang Balita to help you begin your journey to the best version of yourself. They are easy enough to follow that you can even do these while watching your favorite TV show for 30 minutes.
Warm up - According to fitness trainer Robert Barranda, the warm up exercises increase circulation by using the bigger muscle groups like the hips and thighs. For the warm up, move to the right then to the left while clapping. Make your warm up more challenging by squatting while moving right to left.
Stretching - Any form of physical activity should start with stretching to improve flexibility and avoid injuries while working out. Stretch your head and neck, arms, and lower extremities to kick off your exercise.
Waiter's bow - For this exercise, get two bottles of water and hold them with both hands. Make sure your back and legs are straight while doing this workout. Put your one hand in front of your stomach and the other at the back. Bow forward as far as you can by pushing your hips backward. Repeat steps, alternating the hands.
Saddlekick - In a circular motion, gently kick your right leg forward and angle it to the your right side. Do the same for your left leg. Then, use the same movement with the left leg first, angle it towards your left side.
Squat hip extension - Make sure your back is straight and your butt is pushed backward for this exercise's starting position. Squat then push your right leg when going up to the starting position. Do the same for the left leg.
