A male foreigner from the Middle East has tested positive for the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-coronavirus (MERS-CoV) and is currently confined at the Department of Health's Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), according to a report Monday.
This is the second case of the virus in the country, when a Filipina nurse who arrived from Saudi Arabia tested positive for MERS in February. She was cleared of it later that same month. Three Koreans who were confined at the RITM last week later tested negative for the virus.
An outbreak of the virus was earlier declared in South Korea, where a total of 184 cases, including 33 deaths have been reported.
