Our poop can tell a lot about how healthy we are (or aren't)

“Sa appearance pa lang ng dumi ng isang tao, malalaman mo kung may sakit na siya o wala. Minsan may mga blood o di kaya yung kulay masyado maitim. Ibig sabihin nuon may bleeding ka na sa loob,” begins Dr. Raul Quillamor in a recent Pinoy MD episode.

Apparently, our poop is a good indicator of our health, and in the episode, we learned about the Bristol Stool Chart, which states that there are seven types of stool.

Type 4  — sausage-shaped, or snake-like, smooth and soft — is tagged as normal.

Adds Dr. Vernon Serafico, internist De Los Santos Medical Center, it's got to be brown, because that's the normal color of excrement.

Round-shaped, almost nut-like stool (Type 1), signals you are constipated.

If your excrement is sausage-shaped but lumpy, it might mean you’re lacking fiber and water. Drink lots of H20 and please eat more fruits and vegetables.

Poop that is colored black with a strange fishy smell might mean your ulcers is acting up, says Dr. Serafico.

If you poop more than seven times, dudes and dudettes, please go see a doctor.
