Camille Prats opens up about pregnancy struggles, reveals she was hospitalized repeatedly

Pregnancy is a miracle, but it isn't always pretty.

This is what Camille Prats wants to make clear in her latest blog post, "Pregnancy is a Bumpy Ride."

The Kapuso host, who is now 9 months pregnant with her third child, detailed the struggles she faced as an expectant mom.

"Pregnancy is indeed a wonderful journey, the miracle of growing a human being inside of you is undoubtedly one of God's amazing gifts to women, but let's face it, IT IS NOT EASY AND NOT AT ALL GLAMOROUS," she said.

For Camille, the first trimester was the most challenging of all.

"Morning sickness, for some, all day sickness, nausea, sleepiness, sore breasts, enhanced smell of everything especially garlic, perfume etc. This is the time when the things you used to do are slowly being taken away from you. You can no longer cook, eat, focus, work and do anything else," she said.

Camille said she was actually diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum, or excessive vomiting during the first trimester, and was hospitalized a few times for dehydration.

After the roller coaster ride that was the first trimester comes the "honeymoon stage of pregnancy," the second trimester.

"I was sleeping fine, eating more than fine (uh oh!) and was really doing great," she said.

At 34 weeks, Camille is on her last trimester, and lower back pain is her constant companion.

Her husband, VJ, has to help her stand sometimes, and she says the weight gain "still shocks the hell out of me."

"I've been doing pregnancy yoga stretches to help release it and so far its really helping me. I struggle to get out of bed and would often need a little push or pull from VJ to help me stand," she said.

Despite the pain and discomfort, Camille said that the whole ordeal has taught her to "continue to love her ever changing body."

"It taught me to be selfless and think about my baby rather than how I look.  To accept what happens and be joyful about it. Pregnancy feels like forever when in fact, I think 9 months is quite short to actually grow, mold and form a human being, but that's the miracle of life," she wrote.

"It taught me to love my flaws-- growing, darkening areas of your body, stretch marks, break outs and everything else," she added.
