Skincare not working on acne? Dermatologist explains why

Disappointed with yet another ineffective skincare product?

In an episode of Pinoy MD, Dr. Jean Marquez listed down the possible reasons why that may be.

The dermatologist said that you might not be "hiyang" with the cleanser or toner that you use — it might be comedogenic, or it might not have the properties you need.

Or baka naman it's too drying naman," she continued.

She also reminded that acne is not so easy to solve with just skincare.

There are many other reasons that could be causing it, and thus needs to be addressed.

Hormones, diet, and even the shampoo you use might be a factor.

This can be a problem with hormones, and also this can be a problem sa maling pagkain ng diet," she said.

"Baka masyadong marami na dairy products na kinakain or too much sweets, or yung mga ginagamit na hair products na too oily, or makeup na comedogenic. Napakadami pong dahilan," she added.

She reminded that it was best to have your acne checked by professionals first.
