The 'Curly Hair Method' might help you with your kinky hair
Did you know that there's a Facebook support group called Curly Girls Philippines?
Well, this online community has come up with the so-called "Curly Girl Method."
It's a set of easy techniques that not only helps curly girls style their hair, but also keep it clean, soft and shiny.
Joy, 29, who used to lose the battle with her head on a daily basis, shared some of those pro-tips in an episode of GMA Public Affairs' "Stand for Truth."
Tip #1: Conditioner, not shampoo
The frequent use of shampoo is not recommended for curly hair as this dries it very easily.
Instead, curly girls can do "co-wash," which is really just cleansing the hair with conditioner.
Tip #2: Scrunch
Rather than rubbing it on and washing it off, scrunching the conditioner into the hair can help it soak in the product.
"Habang may conditioner ang hair mo, isu-squish mo siya at maha-hydrate ang hair mo," Joy explains.
She said leave-in conditioner can make a huge difference, too.
Tip #3: Style
Gel is a very important part of our girl's hair routine.
Joy said the extra step helps her make sure her curls cooperate with the style she wants for the entire day.
"'Yung nakaka-help kasi siyang i-hold 'yung curls mo ng matagalan, para magkulot lang siya lalo, scrunch mo lang...kasi nag-he-help siyang magkaroon ng spiral lalo ang hair mo," she said.
The Curly Girls Philippines Facebook group currently has over 23,000 members, and it hopes to empower more and more gals to embrace their curls.
