Woman ditches slimming pills, drops weight through low-carb diet and intermittent fasting
Slimming pills may sound like an easy solution for those seeking to lose weight, but Yorrika Lim proves that there are better ways to slim down.
An episode of Pinoy MD on Saturday told the story of Yorrika's weight loss journey.
Yorrika shared that she actually tried taking slimming pills before, and it was actually effective — but only short-term.
"Nawawalan ako ng appetite pero 'pag hindi mo na siya tinake ayan na naman, kakain na naman. Paulit ulit lang ang cycle," she said.
There were side effects too — she said that bruises would randomly appear on her body and she had a hard time sleeping.
As her weight continues to climb, reaching 176 lbs, Yorrika started to feel the effects of her weight.
Her back and knees would ache, and even worse, she could no longer carry her daughter.
It was in May 2018 when she decided to lose weight through a lifestyle change.
She started saying no to rice, when before she would have three to four cups per meal, and opted for leafy vegetables instead. She went on a low-carbohydrate and high-fat diet, and then started intermittent fasting, too. She would only eat for eight hours, and fast for 16 hours.
After six months, her hard work bore fruit: her weight dropped from 176 lbs to 137 lbs.
Inspired, she started exercising too, doing circuit training five times a week.
This 2019, her weight is only 120 lbs — and she can carry her three-year-old daughter again.
It's not too late to decide to take care of your body, but make sure you go about it in a healthy way!
