The Kapuso celebrity tells GMA News Online she's been working out on and off for years now, but it was while working in the recently concluded "The Gift" that the actress finally decided it's time to make it a habit.

"One day I just woke up and said, no more excuses," she said.

Her streak started when she and her family came back from their holiday getaway in Osaka, Japan last December.

"Doon ako parang feel ko sobrang bumigat ako so pagbalik, sabi ko extra effort dapat 'yong bawi," she said.

She started hitting the gym regularly, and six weeks into the New Year, Mikee saw results of her hard work.

It's made her very happy, she admits.

"I get compliments and that feeling na parang 'yong achievement na 'ay gumagana' so you kinda wanna hear more of that. So you work harder to keep it on track," she said.

But it's not just about looking good. Mikee says her posture has improved a lot and felt her muscles have toned up. And there's the post-exercise buoyancy.

"Ang sarap sa feeling," she said.

Of course, there is the added bonus of being able to wear all the clothes she wants. Mikee says, "ang sarap magbihis 'pag alam mong anything is going to look good on you."

Right now, Mikee said she feels healthier than ever, though she still has a goal to achieve: become more fit and become more toned.

As an advice to anyone who wants to start their fitness journey, Mikee said to always get their inspiration from something positive.

"If it's from something negative, it's always going to be short-term lang," she added. "If you want it enough, everything else will follow through. Just want it enough." — LA, GMA News
