Rochelle Pangilinan shares DIY home workout to avoid cabin fever while in quarantine
As Luzon remains under enhanced community quarantine, it's all too easy to fall into a routine of doing nothing or sitting all day binge-watching movies.
But we need to watch out: there's a higher risk of developing hypertension, obesity, or other cardiovascular diseases when we are not moving our bodies.
Sure, we cannot go outside to jog or hit the gym, but original Sexbomb girl Rochelle Pangilinan has tips for exercising within our homes.
She shared her DIY home workout in Nelson Canlas' report for "24 Oras."
1. Brisk walking
Who says you can't take a walk inside the house? Go around the dining table or if you want to increase the difficulty, try it up and down the stairs.
2. Squats
No need for fancy equipment, just you, your body weight, and your muscles. Busting out those squats is perfect for racking up a sweat in this period of low activity.
3. Jumping jack
Want some cardio exercises? Dust up the old jumping jack routine. Play some music and hit it up on the beat!
4. Dumbbells
Don't have weights to lift? Fill a plastic bottle with water and voila! Instant dumbbells you can use to exercise those upper body muscles.
5. Stretching
Finish your workout with plain old stretching to cool down and you're done.
Rochelle said she does 10 reps of each step and two sets overall. Beginners can start three times a week or every other day and slowly increase to five times a week.
She kick-starts her day with the exercise every morning and makes sure to set her pace gradually to avoid injuries.
"Tinityempuhan ko talaga na tulog silang mag-ama ko para 'yung me-time ko, talagang akin lang," said the mom of one-year-old Baby Shiloh, her daughter with Arthur Solinap. --MGP, GMA News
