Doggo to the rescue, comforts health workers amid fight vs. COVID-19

This heroic doggo has been helping healthcare workers fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) the best way she knows how — by spreading the love!

In PAWSsion Project's Instagram post on Thursday, the dog, named Wynn, can be seen comforting Dr. Susan, an emergency room doctor, as she rests on a hospital floor.

This is Dr. Susan. She is an ER doctor at the front lines of fighting COVID-19. She is doing it all with her dog, Wynn, by her side. Susan is raising Wynn for Canine Companions for Independence. Canine Companions places assistance dogs free of charge with children, adults, and veterans with disabilities. Wynn goes to the ER each day and stays within the social workers’ inner office, so no one touches her but staff can wash up and have a moment with her. Susan says that Wynn has saved the doctors and nurses because they are very stressed and anxious, sometimes too busy to be scared. “We can find comfort in each other when we know I have your back and you have mine.” If you ask me- they are both superheroes!???? According to the animal rights' organization, Dr. Susan is fighting at the frontlines with Wynn by her side all the time. She is, after all, raising her dog for Canine Companions for Independence, an agency that places assistance dogs with people with disabilities for free.

Wynn apparently goes to the ER every day and stays at the inner office so the staff, after washing up, can have a moment with her.

The group wrote, "Susan says that Wynn has saved the doctors and nurses because they are very stressed and anxious, sometimes too busy to be scared...If you ask me- they are both superheroes!"

As of Thursday, nine doctors have succumbed to COVID-19, according to the Philippine Medical Association.

In the Philippines, over 636 cases have been confirmed and 38 people have died due to the disease as of Wednesday. 26 patients have recovered, while 704 people had tested negative for the disease.
