Parents appeal for financial help as 14-year-old son diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer

The parents of a 14-year-old cancer patient are appealing for financial assistance so their son could get chemotherapy and other medications.

According to Mariz Umali's report for "24 Oras," Juan Carlos Miguel David was diagnosed with a Stage 4 cancer from a rare malignant germ cell tumor.

He has two tumors in his liver and stomach, which has been causing him constant and excruciating pain.

"Nag 2D echo siya just two weeks ago. Nakita na nagpu-push na sa heart niya 'yung tumor. Kasi lumaki nga, that's why he's having chest pains na. Sobrang nakakatakot," his father Dennis said.

The parents said they did not expect that their son would have such a disease because he was an active and healthy boy.

"Biglang parang nauupos na kandila po 'yung pakiramdam. Sobrang hirap na hirap po akong tanggapin," said his mother Marie Fe. "Nagtatanong po ako kung bakit siya pa?"

Miguel has lost a lot of weight since he was diagnosed in June, but he is staying positive despite his condition.

"Tiwala lang po kay Lord, kasi siya naman 'yung tutupad lahat ng gusto natin," he said. "Tsaka po wag masyado mag-alala kasi gagaling naman ako. Dapat masaya lang lagi."

Aside from financial help, the parents are asking for prayers for their son as he battles the disease.

"Sana po matapos na po kaagad, gumaling na siya kaagad, para may time pa siya ma-experience 'yung adolescence niya," Dennis said.
