3 types of face shields and when you should wear them

Aside from face masks, shields are also used by several people for extra protection and to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In an interview on Unang Hirit, General and Occupational Medicine Dr. Gerald Belandres identified the different types of face shields and when it's best to use them.

Belandres said face shields are used to prevent droplets from getting into your eyes, nose, and mouth.

1. Face shield with garter - P35

According to Belandres, this is the first type of face shield that was introduced in the market.

The report said it is comfortable, lightweight, and clear and is best used for those who wear eyeglasses.

2. Face shield with glasses - P79

This type of face shield is recommended for anyone and just like the previous one it is also lightweight and clear.

In addition, the shield also fits the face better since it is designed and worn like real eyeglasses.

3. Cap face shield - P160

Meanwhile, this face shield is best used when you go outside but Belandres doesn't recommend this in indoor settings since it will easily make you feel hot.

The cap face shield is ideal for those who go outdoors or for those who visit wet markets.

However, Belandres said since you will easily feel hot wearing this type of shield, he doesn't recommend it to those who have hypertension.—Jannielyn Ann Bigtas/AOL, GMA News
