Daughter of OFW gets cleft palate surgery thanks to Kapuso Foundation

The youngest daughter of a former Overseas Filipino Worker had a surgery to repair her cleft palate thanks to the GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to a report on "24 Oras," the OFW was Janet Calayag, who fell from the fourth floor of a building in Saudi Arabia back in November 2020.

She was in critical condition after allegedly being pushed by a security guard, but she was able to recover and eventually return home.

Shortly after she arrived in the country, she asked for help in getting her daughter a surgery.

"As a parent, I have to think of ways to provide the needs of my children," she said.

Her plea was answered, and one week later, her daughter had the surgery thanks to the Kapuso Foundation and the Philippine Bank of Mercy.

Dr. Hector Santos said her daughter would need a speech therapist to improve her speaking, but Janet is already thankful for the surgery.

"My difficulties have been lessened because my child got an operation," she said. "It's a big blessing that the GMA Kapuso [Foundation] entered our lives."

The Kapuso Foundation is still accepting donations through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuiller, and Pay Maya. Vouchers can also be bought from Shopee and Zalora.
