Can women still get pregnant despite having ovarian cysts?

In an episode of "Pinoy MD," OB-GYN Dr. Raul Quillamor said it is still possible for women with ovarian cysts to have a baby.

"Pwede naman kasi depende sa klase ng cyst, may mga cyst kasi na maliliit lang din may mga cyst na malalaki, may cyst na benign, may cyst na malignant," he said.

("It is possible depending on the type of cyst, there are cysts that are small and there are cysts that are big, there are also cysts that are benign and there are those that are malignant.")

Quillamor said if a woman menstruates regularly, she has the capability to get pregnant since she is fertile.

The OB-GYN doctor said the problem would be if the cyst is big or if it is malignant and a woman gets pregnant.

He said it can be the cause of spontaneous miscarriage or premature labor later on.
