Wife shows sacrifice of frontliners with photos of nurse husband after a day's duty

Frontliners make a lot of sacrifices to care for their patients amid the coronavirus pandemic—they risk their own health and their work takes a physical toll on their bodies.

Their families and loved ones see the marks left on them after each day of duty, but the wife of one nurse decided to show the public what her husband looks like when he comes home.

Glenn Domoguen, a nurse at a COVID-19 ward at a public hospital in Manila, has lines on his face from wearing a mask the whole day. His hands have also gone wrinkly from wearing personal protective equipment.

["Only five hours of sleep, have to work again the next day. 12-16 hours sweaty inside the hot PPEs... Delayed SRA, just enduring it for the sake of the sick."]

According to Che, Glenn also holds an IT degree but he chose to serve as a frontliner because he knows that nurses like him are needed amid the pandemic.

She said they have only one room at home, so Glenn sleeps in the living room and doesn't eat with his family to reduce the risk of possible exposure to the virus.

["What all frontliners experience today is a difficult sacrifice that we must do to fulfill our duties to our patients. My conscience could not stand to leave them amid their suffering, and the same is true for my colleagues at the hospital."]
