Over 100 boys get free circumcision with help of GMA Kapuso Foundation, partners

Over 100 boys were circumcised for free with the help of GMA Kapuso Foundation and its partners.

According to a “24 Oras” report on Wednesday, among the beneficiaries were 13-year-old John and 11-year-old Gerald, who often got teased and called “supot” by other children.

They were supposed to get circumcised in 2020, but free circumcisions stopped when the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Now that restrictions are eased under Alert Level 1, Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center and Philippine Society of General Surgeons are conducting a “libreng tuli” activity with GMA Kapuso Foundation.

According to Dr. Helen Amo, department of surgery secretary at Jose R. Reyes Memorial Medical Center, circumcision is essential for men’s health and hygiene.

“Kapag tinutuli, ’yung risk of infection like mga recurrent UTI or ’yung sexually-transmitted diseases will be lessened. Wala namang specific limit for as long as the child is willing na magpa-circumcise,” she said.

GMA Kapuso Foundation is accepting donations for its projects through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuillier, Shopee, GCash, PayMaya, Zalora, MegaMart, Globe Rewards, Metrobank credit card, and Lazada.
