Angie Mead King rebrands Victoria Court Malate, Buendia, and Cuneta: 'For the people and the planet'

Victoria Court properties in Malate, Buendia and Pasay will now fly under the banner of Hotel Ava.

According to Angie Mead King, she is rebranding her hotel properties "for the people and the planet."

Taking Pride Month as the occasion and the opportunity to announce her decision, the businesswoman took to social media on Sunday, asking her followers to "come celebrate with me our transition."

"The departure from our former iconic brand is a truly difficult task but I am confident with our direction, we're going to be able to make a difference," Angie said.

"The pandemic has made me rethink how I operate my businesses, treat my employees, and what impact I have to the community. I didn't want to just go back to business as usual," the businesswoman explained in an Instagram Stories post, which she also shared on Twitter.

Among the many brave changes Angie plans to do is to give employees 6 months maternity leave, 3 months paternity leave, a 4-day work week for those going back to the office and a 5-day work week for those in operations.

The recent guest of The Howie Severino podcast has also taken a look at the environmental impact of her properties and made the decision to invest in solar panels "to offset roughly 371 tons of carbon dioxide emissions a year."

They will also install wall planters "to help increase the thermal insulation and refresh the air in our environment" and aim to collect "roughly 150,000 liters of rain water" for their water needs.

According to Angie, Hotel Ava plans to minimize the use of single use plastics and push "our suppliers to reduce as well" and invest "in our tower farm for the pesticide free vegetables."

"I hope with these radical changes, we can serve as an inspiration to other companies to rethink how they conduct business so that we truly make a difference on how we treat our environment and our people," she said.

In a recent episode of The Howie Severino podcast, Angie discussed her recent ventures in tower farming in Lake Caliraya, having an apiary, and developing in two bamboo farms, as well as her efforts to make her hotels a lot more environment friendly.

"We're actually greenifying the whole hotel," Angie told Howie Severino. "All the walls are now covered in planter boxes. We're capturing rainwater to water the wall planter boxes. We've installed solar panels, we're going the whole sustainability route and trying to be a real farm-to-table business with sustainability in mind rather than just profits."
