Man who lost arm due to diabetes receives prosthetic hand from GMA Kapuso Foundation
A man who lost an arm last year due to diabetes received a prosthetic hand from the GMA Kapuso Foundation.
According to a report on "24 Oras," Friday, Ferdinand Ros said his hand developed a skin abscess and doctors eventually had to amputate it.
He lost his job due to his condition, but he did not give up on supporting his family and began selling frozen products for income.
"Pamilya lang ang nagbibigay sa akin ng lakas ng loob para malampasan ko ang lahat ng pagsubok," he said.
("Family is the only thing that gives me strength so I can go through all the challenges.")
Ferdinand is one of the beneficiaries of the free prosthetic hands from GMA Kapuso Foundation's Kapuso Kalusugan Konsulta project.
In partnership with LN-4 Foundation and Naked Wolves Philippines, a total of eight civilians and soldiers received prosthetic hands.
"We don't want anything from the beneficiaries except to give a hand to them and to teach them how to use it," said Grace Cabato from LN-4 Foundation.
Soldiers were also taught how to attach the prosthetic hands so the aid can reach far-flung places.
