How Ashley Ortega quickly moved on from her breakup with Lucena Mayor Mark Alcala

Few people can handle breakups as gracefully as Ashley Ortega.

The "Hearts on Ice" lead star broke up with Lucena Mario Mark Alcala sometime late last year but already, Ashley has moved on.

In the most recent episode of "Updated with Nelson Canlas," Ashley admitted it was difficult.

"The first few months I'm not gonna lie, it was very difficult for me kasi when I started living alone that was the time also that I just had  a breakup, so parang I really felt physically, emotionally and mentally alone," she said.

And while family and friends did help her a lot, Ashley shared what really allowed her to move on was to "accept everything" and welcome the pain that came with the breakup.

"The process of really accepting everything and telling yourself na you have to, kailangan mong panindigan ginawa mong decision. It was hard pero siyempre mag-isa lang ako dito, ramdam na ramdam ko talaga yung lungkot ko."

"You know the pain that I had that time, I really welcomed it and embraced it. Kaya I was able to recover from that kasi inacknowledge ko talaga yung pain. And it's okay to acknowledge your pain, it's part of life," she said.

"I started to love myself more, to prioritize myself," she added.

Six months in and Ashley is "really happy."

"My heart is full right now," she said. "I recovered from the break up already, kasi last year kami naghiwalay, so ngayon, I'm confirming it to people. I think I'm ready to — it's about time na rin."

"Nakarecover na ako sa heart break," she added.

While Ashley is unsure to call her ex a friend — "I have nothing against him. It's just hard to say we're friends, because after the break up, we never saw each other again and we never really talked to each other," she said — the Kapuso celebrity is also not pressuring herself to define their strange relations, if any.

"I don't wanna go back there and question myself na dapat ba friends kami, kasi parang okay na ako e, and with him he's okay na also with his life right now. So parang better to move forward na lang and I don't wanna, you know, pressure myself na isipin ko pa nang maigi kung kailangan ko bang maging friends, kasi it's not a big deal to me anymore." — LA, GMA Integrated News
