Miss Universe Philippines hopeful Angelique Manto shares BTS video on swimsuit shoot
Miss Universe Philippines hopeful Angelique Manto shared a thoughtful message about how swimsuits empower her.
Posting a behind-the-scenes video of her swimsuit shoot, the former UAAP courtside reporter said she has never shied away from wearing swimsuits.
"It's a way of embracing the body that got me through everything," she wrote, apart from "the island girl in me finding comfort in the waters too."
According to Angelique, her official Miss Universe Philippines swimsuit photo "is a show of the hard work I poured, with the support of my amazing coach Jeff, to not only be physically strong but marry the mental strength in me as well."
"I feel strong, in the same breath, empowered – to reflect the same strength towards you," she added.
Angelique surprised the public when she announced her plans of joining the pageant. In February, she dedicated her MUP candidacy to her younger self, her father, mental health, and her "beloved Pampanga."
The Miss Universe Philippines just shared the official swimsuit photographs of the 40 candidates.
Earlier, Miss Makati Michelle Dee shared outtakes from her shoot, as well.
The coronation event of this year's Miss Universe Philippines will take place on May 13.
