Winwyn Marquez on motherhood and going back to work: 'Hindi ko pa siya kaya i-balance'

Nearly one year after giving birth to daughter Luna, actor and former beauty queen Winwyn Marquez is headed back to work in the showbiz industry.

On "Fast Talk with Boy Abunda," the Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 said, "I'm so excited to be back, finally after almost a year. Naka-work pa rin ako, and I have this sense of — ano na — parang reality ulit, kumbaga."

Yet she admitted that hasn't quite found the balance yet between her career and motherhood. "To be honest, Tito Boy, hindi ko pa siya kaya i-balance," Winwyn said.

"Ang hirap kasi kailangan advance nang 2 weeks, advance nang 1 month because I have to schedule talaga dahil 'yung yaya namin 'di naman lagi nandiyan, and I take care of my child. Nakatutok ako," she continued.

Even with her career as an actor on the TV series, "Mga Lihim ni Urduja," and the movie, "The Cheating Game," she said she's a mother first.

"Luna is my top priority. Siya ang pipiliin ko no matter what talaga. Iba pala talaga. Totoo pala 'yun. When you have a child, konektado talaga kayo."

During the "Fast Talk" portion of the interview, Winwyn said it was Luna who could make her cry and laugh. Later, she added that she's happiest when she's with Luna. "Iba talaga," she said.

In the interview, Winwyn also admitted to thinking she experienced postpartum depression during the first four months after giving birth to Luna.

"I felt like a failure, kasi ang hirap — 'yung tatayo ka lang, parang 'yung feeling na tatayo ka na pipilitan mo, but you really have to sacrifice because you have no other choice," she said.

"Pero pag nakikita ko siya, I snap back to reality that I have to take care of myself because I have to take care of her dahil ayoko siyang kasakit — lahat," she continued. — Kimberly Tsao/LA, GMA Integrated News
