A mother from Tigaon, Camarines Sur is asking for help for her seven-year-old son who has a large lump on his lower back, near his buttocks.

As seen on "24 Oras" on Monday, Mark Ian is usually in pain and has a hard time walking and going to the bathroom due to the large lump.

"Pag naglalakad niya po, palagi siyang nadadapa," said Maricel Camu, Mark Ian's mom, who was in tears.

The situation is unfortunate because Mark is always excited about going to school.

His mom doesn't have enough money for medicine. She runs a small store, selling snacks.

The GMA Kapuso Foundation put them in touch with a doctor for a check-up.

Based on an interview with Dr. Jocelyn Yadao-Agonoy, a pediatrician at Bocaue Specialists Medical Center, Mark has a condition called syringomyelia, where a lump or cyst filled with cerebrospinal fluid forms.

The cyst is entwined with the spinal cord and the nerves in the body.

She recommended that young boy see a neurosurgeon and undergo more diagnostic tests. The medical tests are needed to determine where the surgeon will operate on his body.

To help prevent this condition and aid in neural development, the doctor recommended that pregnant moms take in folic acid, which is also called Vitamin B9.

"Sana matulungan n'yo naman po 'yung anak ko na ma-operahan po siya," said Mark's mom, Maricel.
