GMA Kapuso Foundation collects 1,674 blood bags in donation drive

The GMA Kapuso Foundation has collected a total of 1,674 blood bags in its donation drive held on Valentine's Day.

According to a report on "24 Oras," Monday, the project was in partnership with the Philippine Red Cross and was held at the Ever Gotesco Mall in Quezon City.

"We are showing our love for our fellow man. Hindi mo kakilala kung sino 'yung bibigyan ng dugo mo, correct? 'Di mo naman kaano ano. Pero alam mo sa puso mo na 'yung dugo mo ay makapagliligtas sa buhay niya," said Mel Tiangco, GMA Kapuso Foundation ambassador and special adviser.

"What kind of love, how huge, how wonderful to show love to your fellow man that way?"

Blood donors received food and freebies during the event. They were also entertained by several performers.

"Already we have collected 68,000 units over the years and more than 200,000 patients ang natulungan natin sa ating tuloy-tuloy na blood drive," said Gwedolyn Pang, Secretary General of the Philippine Red Cross.

Among those who donated blood include Marife Lagao and her husband Dennis, who spent their Valentine's day in the event.
